Subproject Summary

In evaluations of the teaching and administrative activities of the Faculty of Public Administration, students highlighted the fact that, in their first year, they are not yet prepared to make the transition from high school to college. Among the needs identified are basic skills in social interaction, building relationships with professors, and using new methods for acquiring competencies and skills.

The remedial activities identified by the Faculty of Public Administration take into account the stress experienced by students during their first year of study and, based on experiential and non-formal educational methods, aim to improve opportunities for 270 students—90 students per year—to participate in quality education, with the goal of increasing the pass rate from 86.2% to 87.7%.

Based on the OECD strategy for promoting an education system based on Anticipation – Action – Reflection, the project offers remedial, counseling, and career guidance activities, organized to begin with integration into the academic community and continue with personal development, communication, teamwork, and building a successful career.

Participation, Integration, and Success Rates

The overall objective of the subproject is to improve opportunities for a group of 270 students enrolled in their first year of a bachelor's degree program, during the academic years 2019–2020, 2020–2021, and 2021–2022, who are at high risk of dropping out, to high-quality experiential and non-formal education programs within the School of Public Administration.

Through its activities, the project aims to increase the pass rate from 86,20% at the amount of 87,70% at the end of the first year of the bachelor's degree program.
